BuildaBridge sponsered another training in the Restorative Justice (RJ) series.  Dr. Vivian Nix-Early, certificed RJ trainer, led a group of ten students to learn the value and process of circles — practical and effective tools for creating a positive classroom climate in both secondary and elementary schools. Arcadia's Artists in the Community

Losing a loved one is never easy.  Oftentimes, it is a traumatic event in one's life which leaves a void that may get better in time, but may never fully be replaced.  Planning the events, logistics and arrangements after a death with other family members or loved ones can sometimes be just as damaging.  As I stood listening to this topic of conversation in Linda Paskell's 'The Artist in the Community class at Arcadia University last Wednesday, February 1, I thought about my own losses in life, those close to me and those who experience death more frequently living in tough places.  Reflecting on the things, activities and people that helped me get through those tough times was a beautiful transition into my presentation about BuildaBridge -- bringing hope and healing through the power of the creative arts to traumatized, vulnerable and marginalized people living in the toughest places of the world.
